Lesotho, is a country in the southern part of Africa with a beautiful landscape. Over 80 percent of the country lies above 1,800 metres (5,906 ft) in elevation. It is the only independent state in the world that lies entirely above 1,000 metres in elevation and its lowest point of 1,400 metres is thus the highest in the world. - The country is calm and very safe. The people of Lesotho are called Basotho, (not Lesothoans)
- The Afriski area is cool as it is of a high elevation.

- Currency used is the Loti or the South African Rand.
- Good accommodation ranges from average of R600- R1000 ($US50-$80) per night
- The dominant language used is Sesotho, but the majority of people there understand English well
- The distance from Maseru, the capital city of Lesotho to Afriski Mountain Resort is just less than 199km. (2 hour drive)
- All around the country you will see people dressed in woollen blankets, often with beautiful patterns. This is part of the Basotho culture.
- “Khotso” means peace, and you’ll be instantly loved by the Basotho if you greet them using this term. They use it to greet each other.
