Touring Togo

Togo is a beautiful land with many unaltered natural landscapes. It still has most of its culture and traditions intact. Koutammakou, or the Land of the Batammariba is one such cultural landscape and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the northern part of Togo. The area is characterised by picturesque traditional mud houses which remain the common style of living in most of its rural areas.

Here is what you need to know when travelling to Togo.

  • Official language if Togo is French. (Two indigenous languages, Ewé ( Ewe: Èʋegbe) and Kabiyé are considered as national languages)
  • Local Currency is the CFA Franc (US$1: 573 CFA franc)

  • Lomè -Tokoin airport is the main airport of Togo receiving commercial international flights
  • Culturally, Togo is made up of more than 25 ethnic groupings, but the Ewé and Kabiye are the most prominent.
